Accessory Review: Subwoofer Kit
We always use the NAV audio system, both underway and parked. Kind of felt that the sound quality lacked warmth and range, with just the 6.5" overhead speakers.
When I spoke with a Hifonics Tech regarding a different issue, I asked him if he thought adding the subwoofer would make a difference. I pointed out that I did not want a "thumper" type of sub. He assured me that he has listened to the differences of sub/no sub in their test NAV, and that the quality of sound was enhanced with the subwoofer.
I ordered it direct from Kawasaki and installed it myself. Not too difficult, but you do have to take the windshield and dash apart, drill a couple of holes, etc. Pretty much plug and play at that point, but some effort removing and putting everything back together.
The results are noticeable and, of course, much more so when not underway (which we do alot).
Here is info from Kawasaki's website:
• Integrated Amplifier with 200 Watts peak power @ 2 Ohms
• Single Channel • Frequency response: 30-150 Hz (+/- 3 dB) • Low Pass Crossover Fixed 150 Hz
• Bandpass ported design into vehicle cabin
• Enclosure: durable HDPE and ASA
• Plug and Play install with factory Audio with the 7" infotainment system
• Custom designed for factory fit and finish
