The NAV Limited 4e ships with a factory installed Hifonics Touch Screen Source Unit GMR-7V2K. It appears that the subwoofer is an option that the dealer installs, but not sure. (I do not have the sub).

In the settings, you can select the "subwoofer output" on or off. If you leave the selector in the "off" position, then the next time you power on the vehicle there will be no audio.

The only way to fix this is to do a "factory reset", which then requires you to re-input all of your settings. Not fun.

I emailed Hifonics, and an engineer called me within 10 minutes to troubleshoot this with me. He said that they had a test NAV vehicle in-house, and would try to replicate the issue.

An hour later he emailed me and said,
"Just wanted to say thank you. I was able to replicate the issue and we will work on getting a firmware to resolve the issue in the coming days."

There you go. I'm very impressed with the customer service response from this Kawasaki supplier, especially since I went directly to them and not through Kawasaki.

That's awesome, not very often do you get to talk to an engineer and have them push out a fix in anywhere near that amount of time. Good job both of yall!

Do you think we will all have this issue? Sounds like the default setting will be an issue? Or if I don’t mess with settings I’ll be OK? Sorry, I’m confused.

Hifonics has fixed the glitch, so depending on your build date, it may already be updated. They sent me a firmware update back in October, but I haven't performed the update process yet.
They said that leaving the subwoofer toggle "on", even if you don't have the subwoofer, then you won't have a problem. If you toggle it off and turn the key off, you will have to reenter your settings and presets. Leaving that sub toggle on does not affect the outputs, if no subwoofer installed.
Hope this makes some sense.

Perfect!! Just leave it on 👍🏻. I think I may end up with the subwoofer if I know my wife, she likes to crank the tunes so we will see!!
